Philips Recalls Millions of CPAP, BiPAP, & Ventilator Machines Over Health Risks

Medical device maker Philips is recalling sleep apnea machines and ventilators that could put users at risk of cancer or other health issues. The issue affects an estimated 3 to 4 million devices.

About 80% are machines for aiding people with sleep apnea, a condition that causes a person to stop breathing for short periods during sleep. The rest are life-supporting mechanical ventilators.

The issue is with polyester-based polyurethane sound abatement foam which Philips used in the machines. The foam can break down and cause harmful particles and toxic fumes leading to many health issues, of which include: inflammation, headache, irritation, nausea, vomiting, and cancer.

Philips explained in a note to doctors, that these hazards could cause:

“Serious injury which can be life-threatening or cause permanent impairment.”

If you or a loved one have been injured, and have used a Philips CPAP, BiPAP, or Medical Ventilator, you could be entitled to Significant Compensation. Find out today if you qualify.
